Jake Michael Singer

Jake Michael Singer is a South African artist born in Johannesburg in 1991. Working across sculpture, photography, and painting, his multidisciplinary practice explores materiality, mythology, and catharsis. His work often takes the form of large scale installations created in response to their surroundings, including sites with historical and architectural significance.

At the center of Singer’s sculptural practice is Murmurations, an evolving body of work that reflects on freedom, security, movement, and our shared humanity. Through repetition and accumulation, individual elements come together to form larger structures that evoke both natural systems and collective experience.

Singer’s work has been presented at international art fairs and in solo exhibitions across Europe, the United States, and Africa. His work is held in private and public collections in South Africa and internationally. He has received recognition from the Eduardo Villa Foundation and has participated in artist residencies in Istanbul, Amsterdam, Kampala, and Cologne.

Through a practice that moves between materials, disciplines, and environments, Singer continues to explore the relationship between the individual and the collective.
